Camp 165 Watten on the BBC
Our earlier feature regarding the ‘Black’ PoW camp at Watten has gained more publicity, with the author of the book about the installation appearing on a BBC News item, with video, seen on January 3, 2008.
Noting this was probably the ‘Blackest’ of the ‘Black’ locations housing the most ardent Nazis and supporters of Hitler, Watten is referred to as the location where those who were housed in the former candidate for ‘Blackest’ camp, that of Cultybraggan near Comrie, were moved to when considered too hardline even for that camp.
Interestingly, although there are no remains of Camp 165 to speak of, a few Nissen hut bases, the most significant feature of the film was the the former workshop buildings that served the camp, which appear to have survived as they outside the actual perimeter of the camp.

In the absence of the Forum I’ll post this here before I forget it. On the second of Jan the BBC news noted that the former Arnold Clark garage in Queen Margaret Drive had been re categorised as a Grade A Listed building as a consequence of which it cannot be demolished.
