North east cats prepare to mess with mammal survey
Researchers in the north east of Scotland would have done well to remember that the Internet is “made up of cats and tubes”, as the North East Scotland Biological Records Centre (NESBReC) prepares to create a Mammal Atlas for Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Moray and the Cairngorms National Park.
They are asking cat owners to record precisely what their cats drag in as part of a project to record the species of mammals spread across the north east of Scotland, and the organisers even plan to host two “Look What the Cat Brought In” events to help the lucky owners identify the various offerings the delivered at their feet.
The only problem I can see is that since the cats read about this survey, and the fact that extra attention will be being paid to their achievements ‘in the field’, some have taken steps to raise their game, and are competing to bring home the most impressive prize:
