Secret Scotland

If it's secret, and in Scotland…

Eclipse plus one – Perfect viewing weather one day too late

After yesterday’s cloud covered morning all but destroyed any chance of seeing let alone capturing the eclipse from Glasgow…

24 hours later we had a clear blue cloudless sky and enough sunshine to have a Glaswegian running for cover from the “strange burning yellow thing floating overhead”.

It really was almost as if the gods were mocking us.

While our view of events had been securely hidden behind heavy clouds for all but a few brief seconds on the day, exactly 24 hours later we were basking in bright sunshine beneath a cloudless blue sky.

Here’s the same view of the sky taken at the same time of our local eclipse maximum, one day later:

And yesterday:

And here’s the ground view a few minutes later, just to confirm the time, and show that we even had enough sunlight to cast shadows!

At least the flower’s smiling.
