Secret Scotland

If it's secret, and in Scotland…

A pyramid, a drill, and a medical centre

Don’t know if I’m supposed to apologise for posting (yet) another pic of these items (there have been one or two recently), but I didn’t realise I had nice catch of all three in the same pic, and it seems a shame to waste it.

Forgetting the medical centre, which is incidental, in the foreground is an object first thought to be a base for a metal post, but which, on balance of the evidence, seems to be an abandoned section of drill pipe. No great surprise to find it here, since we know from old maps that this was the site of a chemical works dating from c.1900 or earlier. Presumably stuck since it was not recovered.

The other interesting object is the stone pyramid, now thought to have been built from stone blocks cleared when the banking that once supported a nearby rail track was levelled or reduced. It was suggested they came from a demolished house, but the scale of the stone blocks is just too large for this domestic application, and the banking support makes more sense.
