If it's secret, and in Scotland…

Today is Cycle to Work Day

15 August is Cycle to Work Day.

To be honest, I was about to give this one a miss and no mention, because we’ve already had Bike to Work Day.

But, since there are numerous such ‘identical’ days held on different dates in different places, it seemed a little unfair.

However, since the end result is the same, I’m not going to waste time on it, and just suggest you follow the rambling in the link for Bike to Work Day, if you need an explanation, and I’m also just dropping the same pic in – because it has a cat in it 😉

Today is Lemon Meringue Pie Day

15 August is Lemon Meringue Pie Day.

I think is the first time I’ve spotted this one.

Apparently lemon meringue pie is one of the most popular pies in Great Britain and America.

It’s also one I haven’t come across very often, which may explain why I’ve never noticed this day before.

It seems that lemon flavoured custards, puddings, and pies date back to Medieval times, but the meringue wasn’t perfected until the 17th century, and it took until the 19th before lemon meringue pie was created. The inventor/creator is unknown, but it is certain that the treat originated in Victorian England, and was also referred to as Lemon Chester Pudding, said to be one of the desserts that introduced many around the world to British desserts.

I’m going to have to watch out for one being sold cheap 😉
