Reflections on an electrifying Portakabin project in Strathclyde Park

Last time I mentioned this decorative Portakabin at the northwest end of Strathclyde Loch (in Strathclyde Park), I lamented my inability and failure to find some past information I was I had uncovered before.

I’m sure I had found something which gave a story about it being some sort of art hub or project, which seemed to be borne out by the decoration – but I couldn’t find a thing about it.

A chance find in a recent pic suggest I may have been right, but that it has since changed purpose.

My recent pics show it has grown a little solar farm on its roof, which I thought might just be to increase its ‘greenness’, being in a country park.

However, it seems it might be something a bit more ambitious.

My most recent visit found the place all lit up.

I wouldn’t say I’m nosey, but the view in those windows looked interesting, and one proved to be informative.

Only one word was visible, but it was enough.

Without giving them a completely free advert, Growatt is a company specialising in all sorts of solar power, and related technology.

I tried to find something specific about any projects in the park, and found that it started with this statement back in 2021.

Three years later, a few days ago the council announced a £24 million transformation plan for the park, including emission and cost reductions through renewable energy use.
