I’ve been watching the response to the recent ending of advice to wear masks or face coverings, and its been interesting.
Locally (which means Glasgow) there was a slow response, then it was as if everybody noticed everybody else wasn’t wearing anything, and it was almost like ‘Monkey see, monkey do’, and I see few wearers.
By way of contrast, I’ve been watching live video from the streets of Asian countries, and they have largely ignored the change, with most people still masking up, so far.
For the time being, I won’t change my habit of wearing a face covering in enclosed areas, such as shops and public transport, given the filthy habits I see some sad individuals don’t regard as disgusting.
This, of course, has nothing to do with being an awkward so-and-so, or enjoying the freedom to mouth abuse at some people from behind my face covering :-)

Keep Wearing Masks
On a more serious note, I’m intrigued, since the pandemic has not been declared as ‘Over’, although in countries like the UK measures are now being reported to have led to falling infection rates.
It will be interesting to see if this trend continues with the mask ruling change, or if that stalls, or returns to an increase.
If it did, nowadays, I almost wonder if there would be any point in telling the public, given the power the conspiracy theorists and nutjobs have proven to hold over a major portion of the population.
Now, I’d be quite happy if they said nothing (provided the information was released on sensible outlets of course), and just left Darwin to quietly remove the dross.
I also have access to a supply of ‘special’ masks, which are free for those who don’t want to follow advice from official or government sponsored sources.
